Documentary films have the power to incite social justice movements, capture an individual's passion on film and highlight some of the most important happenings around the world. Filmmakers that pursue careers in this field are often social justice warriors at heart and most doc filmmakers have the ability to see a story's trajectory before it has even fully unfolded.

This recording of a virtual class is an inside look at how to not only get started as a documentary filmmaker, but how to make a lasting impact with your films once you are consistently creating. Learn about what are the best camera angles to shoot a scene, how not to edit an opening sequence and how to transform a story idea into a documentary film with a through-line narrative.

Join us to learn from Columbia University Journalism School professor Duy Linh Tu. Duy is a co-founder and the Creative Director of Resolution Seven, a documentary and commercial production house. He is a videographer, photographer, writer and multimedia consultant. He teaches long-form, documentary filmmaking for theatrical release/on digital platforms and a speciality documentary storytelling class about one of the most exciting and wide-ranging areas of coverage: science and the environment.

This is a very special opportunity to join watch a recording of Duy in a Zoom chat to learn more about his passions, current projects & to hear some advice about the industry from one of the leading pros.
